Abstract

We report experimental and theoretical studies of the narrow band optical wavelength filter exhibiting an on-line reconfigurable transfer function. The filter is based on dynamic holographic grating recorded in BaTiO3. A novel technique to control the filter transfer function has been developed, it exploits a controllable phase discontinuity of the recorded grating. For the first time the electrically controlled switching from the pass-band to the stop-band transfer function has been demonstrated. The characteristic switching time was of the order of a few hundred milliseconds.
