Abstract

We provide a brief overview of our experimental and theoretical work on controlling light in two-dimensional photonic lattices optically-induced in a photorefractive nonlinear crystal. In particular, we focus on discretizing light behavior in photonic lattices formed by photorefractive optical induction, including formation of fundamental, vector, dipole, and necklace-like discrete solitons. Recent results on controlling light in photonic lattices with structured defects will also be presented.
