Investigation of Self Pulsing in Ytterbium-Doped High Power Fiber Amplifiers

Abstract

We investigate self-pulsing phenomena in Yb-doped fiber amplifiers operated in the Master Oscillator Power Amplifier (MOPA) configuration and find that the pulsing happens due to saturable absorption in certain sections of the doped fiber.
