Abstract

Apertureless near-field probing induces a resonant response in polaritonic (negative-epsilon) materials, demonstrated in 890-1090 cm−1 spectra (CO2 laser) of (i) plasmon-enhancement by mobile electrons in Si, (ii) phonon-enhancement by the fundamental lattice vibration of SiC.
