Hyperbolic localization in photonic crystals without defects

Abstract

We study theoretically, using an effective mass approach, out-of-plane three-dimensional wave localization in twodimensional photonic crystals without defects. Existence of hyperbolic localization (X-waves) in stationary regime is analytically proved and confirmed numerically.
