Causality and Kramers-Kronig Relations for Waveguides

Abstract

Starting from the condition that optical signals propagate causally, we have obtained Kramers-Kronig relations for waveguides. Evanescent modes contribute as an effective loss term in these relations when material absorption is negligible.
