Doubly negative metamaterials with subwavelength unit cells in visible and near infrared

Abstract

A doubly negative metamaterial that can be tuned to operate in the visible and near infrared spectra, comprises deeply subwavelength periodic unit cells, and can be manufactured easily is presented. The underlying physics is elucidated.
