Abstract
Diffraction property of cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) grating has been theoretically and experimentally investigated. The experimental result is in good agreement with the Raman-Nath theoretical diffraction probed by a polarized beam in various polarization states. The dependence on the wavelength and the polarization creates a possibility for externally modulating the CLC device.
