We demonstrate in the spectrally resolved time domain that short pulses (<60 ps) are released from an ultrahigh-Q modegap photonic crystal nanocavity (Q~3.8×10<sup>5</sup>) by dynamically tuning Q, followed by adiabatic wavelength conversion.
