Double Scattering of Light from Biophotonic Nanostructures with Short-Range Order

Abstract

We investigate the mechanism for coloration of isotropic nanostructures with short-range order in bird feather barbs. While the primary spectral peak originates from single scattering, double scattering of light contributes additional spectral features.
