Entangling Particle-like and Field-like Optical Qubits at a Distance

Abstract

We demonstrate the remote creation of entanglement between particle-like and field-like optical qubits, i.e. hybrid entanglement of the form |+〉|α〉 + | −〉| − α〉, where |±〉 correspond to a two-level qubit system and | ± α〉 to coherent states with opposite phases. Such a resource enables to link computational bases of different nature.
