Broadband Slow Light in a Photonic Crystal Line Defect Waveguide

Abstract

Pulse transmission at 4% of vacuum light velocity is shown for a slow-light photonic crystal line defect waveguide over more than 1300GHz bandwidth. We prove the concept both in theory and experiment for an upscaled microwave model and show limitations by disorder.
