Ultraslow light propagation in Erbium-doped solid-state materials

Abstract

Strong dispersion of the refraction index causes slow light propagation. We reported on such phenomenon induced by coherent population oscillations effect in Erbium-doped solids achieving group velocities as low as 2.7 m/s.
