Tunable optical delay on silicon chip with a double-ring resonator

Abstract

The group delay in a silicon double-ring resonator, which has a narrow transparency peak with low group velocity, is measured. Effective group indices from 90 to 289 are obtained by thermal tuning of the resonator.
