Do Pulses in Negative Group Velocity Material Carry Negative Electromagnetic Energy

Abstract

Negative dispersion can be exhibited in resonant materials with gain (or loss). The resulting causal pulses exhibiting "fast light" can be analytically interpreted as carrying negative electromagnetic energy, exploiting the stored energy in the medium.
