The Fiber Microcoil Optical Gyroscope

Abstract

We study the propagation of electromagnetic waves in rotating optical microcoil. The combination of slow-light and conventional propagation enhance the Sagnac phase shift by orders of magnitudes enabling the realization of highly-compact optical rotation sensors.
