Micro-Displacement Sensors Based on Plastic Photonic Bandgap Bragg Fibers

Abstract

We demonstrate a micro-displacement sensor that detects changes in the fiber reflection intensity caused by deflection of a few cm-long, photonic bandgap Bragg fiber. Displacements below 10 µm can be detected with this sensor.
