Abstract

Tailored optical pulse sequences from a novel direct space-to-time pulse shaper driving a highspeed photodiode allow generation of electromagnetic waveforms at center frequencies approaching 50 GHz. Through direct modulation of the optical pulse sequence, arbitrarily phase-and frequency-modulated waveforms are created.
