THz-pulse studies of superluminal propagation in frustrated total internal reflection

Abstract

Tunneling of photons in frustrated total internal reflection has been studied in the time domain with single-cycle THz pulses. Superluminal phase, group and energy velocities have been observed. Diffractive spreading rules out superluminal communication.
