Abstract

Femtosecond time-resolved absorption spectroscopy on the relaxation dynamics of trans-(4-methoxyphenylazo)-4′-nitrobenzene has indicated the rapid internal conversion of the S2 state which is facilitated by the small energy gap between the S2(π,π*) and S1(n,π*) states.
