Spatiotemporal determination of the absolute phase of few-cycle laser pulses

Abstract

We determined the carrier-envelope phase of few-cycle laser pulses by measuring the photoionization asymmetry from xenon. The Gouy phase shift is also measured, providing the first full spatiotemporal depiction of the light pulse’s electric field.
