Abstract

Third-harmonic generation from noble-gas clusters by ultrashort probe pulses is more sharply resonantly-enhanced than linear absorption following heating by an ultrashort pump pulse, in qualitative agreement with simulations of cluster expansion and collective electron dynamics.
