Abstract

Ultrafast excited-state dynamics in indigo-based photochromic compounds was studied with the transient absorption spectroscopy and ab initio calculations. We demonstrated an approach of adjusting excited state relaxation routes and photoisomerization rates for applications where fast photoswitching is needed.
