Microwave Holograms and Optical Reconstruction

Abstract

Experiments on the construction of holograms using microwaves and the optical reconstruction of images were conducted. The microwave fields were detected by a diode which mechanically scans the field distribution. The electrical signals from the detector were amplified and converted to light signals which were recorded on photographic films by a camera as microwave holograms. In the process of reconstructing original images, laser light was used to illuminate the holograms of reduced size and reconstruction was made. The effects of scanning lines that act as gratings are discussed.
