Abstract

A Beckman IR-7 prism/grating infrared spectrophotometer, modified with a fiducial frequency marking system, has been calibrated with an estimated absolute accuracy of up to ±0.05 cm−1 in certain parts of the CsI foreprism range 200–800 cm−1. This represents an approximate tenfold improvement over the manufacturer’s specifications. The frequency reproducibility of the modified instrument and the linearity of the frequency (wave-number) presentation have been critically examined. A calibration scheme for this region is presented.
