  5. For this reason, we have simplified all equations by neglecting multiple internal reflections. Reflection effects at the exterior faces of the two plates act primarily to change the magnitude of the ratio (ρ˜1/ρ˜2) from that obtained from a separate measurement of ρ˜1 and ρ˜2.
