Abstract
This paper describes the growth and formation of the Optical Sciences Center at the University of Arizona and the role of the Center in relation to mission-oriented government agencies and the optical industry. The research and academic programs are outlined, and their close relationship to the needs of government and industry is emphasized. The Optical Sciences Center building and facilities are described briefly.
