Abstract
The x-ray penumbra effect, caused by the finite focal spot of an x-ray tube, and inherent sources of random noise are the primary limiting factors regarding radiographic image quality. An attempt has been made to devise an optimum spatial filter, which, when realized in binary form, provides substantive image improvement.
