Abstract
This paper is concerned with flare measurement in photographic lenses by three colors instead of white light. The results have interesting relations to the antireflection coating, the barrel interior finishing, area and condition of the iris diaphragm of the lens, and the lens edge painting. For color photography, it is more realistic to evaluate flare by means of the relative amount present in each of the blue, green, and red color components. In accordance with the data thus measured, various countermeasures can be considered.
