Kinetic cooling observation with a cw CO2 laser

Abstract

An experiment permitting direct observation of kinetic cooling of a slewed 6-kW cw 10.6-μm CO2 laser beam is described. The experimental results obtained are compared with a theoretical code, and good agreement is noted.
