  9. The etching was performed by masking the area with cellophane tape and coating it with stopcock grease. The entire strip was placed in a 5-M nitric acid solution. This concentration was found to be both rapid and effective in removing the copper from the Kapton. For 14 kV a gap of 2 cm from edge to edge is sufficient.
