Abstract
An efficient method is described for the wave-optical modeling of high-power pulsed CO2 lasers. The method is based on the characterization of the medium by a time-dependent saturation intensity and is applicable provided that the pulse length is short compared with characteristic acoustic times. Under such conditions the method may also be applicable for other pulsed lasers.
