Electrooptical imaging system using wavelength coding

Abstract

A hybrid imaging system is described for transmitting images through optical fibers. The technique employs wavelength coding of image information to allow the transmission of many image pixels in parallel through a single fiber. A zirconium arc lamp is used as the input light source and a linear photodiode array as the output detector. A system description, resolution limit calculation, and experimental results are given.
