Abstract

A four-mirror Nasmyth-focus configuration with a 3-min of arc field of diffraction-limited imagery has been developed utilizing an f/0.6 spherical-primary mirror. Limitations were found when a traditional polynomial was used to describe the aspheric surfaces. To get the desired imagery, eleven aspheric terms were necessary. Exponential series were explored, but they gave no significant improvement.
