Abstract
An optical method for gray level pseudocoloring and color storage in black and white film is presented. It is based on the angular selectivity and diffraction uniformity properties of a double-fan shaped pupil. An oriented speckle pattern master is obtained by using coherent illumination. By means of this master, the coding is performed in the conventional-contact-printing way, and its angular position gives the orientation of the speckle pattern in the plate to be recorded. The coding and reconstruction steps are carried out with white light.
