Abstract

Academic–industrial research to bolster American technological prowess is increasing. The tightening of links between academic and industrial research is symbolized by a building rising on the Stanford University campus that has also become a focus of debate over the proper relationship between the two. This report was originally published in The New York Times, 10 Feb. 1984.
