Fiber-optic based technique for fabricating Gaussian apodized pinholes

Abstract
We report a photographic technique for fabricating small (~100-µm diam) optical pinholes with apodization that is approximately Gaussian. A key feature of our method is use of a single-mode optical fiber to create a nearly Gaussian beam of thermal light.
