Abstract

Our knowledge of the atmospheres of the planets has advanced step by step with the development of optical techniques. The experiments that have been performed may be classified according to the parameters that they use of the light waves emanating from the planet and collected by the telescope. A number of lines of attack appear to be promising for future work.
