Abstract
The Overhauser effect in an electron-nuclear coupled spin system (S = ½, I = 1) is studied in detail. From a population distribution analysis of the system, the nuclear orientation parameters are computed and their temperature dependence discussed. Conditions for achieving stimulated emission are examined in detail. Several significant features hitherto unknown are brought out.
