A predispersion device is described for use with stigmatic spectrographs equipped with a grating blazed for high orders. It employs the Wadsworth prism–mirror arrangement and is extremely simple both to construct and to operate. Data are given to enable the device to be used with a prism of crown glass, heavy flint glass, or fused quartz.
