Laser Application for the Production and Diagnostics of Pulsed Plasma

Abstract

A high speed photography arrangement with a resolution power of 3 nsec is described which permits obtaining shadow and schlieren photography and also interferometry. Such an arrangement was applied to the investigation of microplasma production by laser beam on the surface of a solid target. Shock wave velocities as high as 200 km/sec were registered and the electron density distribution in a plasma was defined.
