Applied Optics Feature Issue Announcement

Optical Design and Testing (ODT2015)

Submissions open: 15 March 2015

Submission deadline: 15 May 2015

This feature issue will highlight current topics in optical design and testing. This special issue allows researchers and attendees of OPTIC 2014, the opportunity to disseminate the science and technology behind novel digital technologies for optical design; optical testing; optical alignment and tolerance; design of optical system; smart opto-mechatronics; LED illumination design; adaptive optics; optical testing; and metrology. This annual feature issue will publish following the conclusion of the sub-conference (Optical Design and Testing) of OPTIC 2014 (Optics and Photonics of Taiwan International Conference). OPTIC 2014, which was held in National Chung Hsin University, December 2014, is the annual meeting for Taiwan’s optics and photonics community.

This year’s scope is now expanded to include contributions from photonics and optics system for coherent light, optics of new generation related to Fourier optics and fast Fourier translation (FFT), such as integrated optics for 3D display and micro optics array camera. Contributions in new related areas, e.g. wave-front coded method and light-field imaging applications, advances in lithography optics, novel high-resolution reflector system, and vision optics, bio-topics will also be strongly encouraged.

While meeting participants and researchers of Optical Valley, ITRI, TPS, and TSOD are particularly encouraged to submit their research work, the submission of the special issue is open to all researchers in the related area from the world over.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following areas:

  • Novel optical design and optimization method for digital image optics
  • Novel optical design and optimization method for digital non-image optics
  • Optical design of integrated photonics and optics system for coherent light
  • Optical design of smart and module micro optics and opto-mechatronics
  • Bio-optics and vision optics related to optical design and testing
  • Fourier transform method and algorithms applied to array camera systems and other new application
  • Adaptive optics: innovative technologies and concepts
  • Advances in X-Ray/EUV optics and components
  • Novel optical design for lithography optics
  • Novel optical design for three-dimensional display technologies
  • Advances: light-field or wave front coded image systems
  • UV/Optical/IR optics and instruments: innovative technologies and concepts
  • Advanced manufacturing, assembly and integration techniques
  • Optical system alignment, tolerance, and verification
  • Aberration theory of coherent light and non-coherent light
  • Advances in digital optical testing and interferometers
  • Innovative testing methodologies and instrumentation
  • Novel dimensional optical metrology and inspection
  • Stray light analysis and performance evaluation

Manuscripts must be prepared according to the usual standards for submission to Applied Optics; see the Information for Contributors in any printed issue or the OSA Style Guide: /ao/submit/style/jrnls_style.cfm.

Manuscripts must also be uploaded through OSA's electronic submission system: /ao/journal/ao/author.cfm.

All manuscripts must be submitted to the Information Processing Division. Please specify that the manuscript is for the Optical Design and Testing feature (choose from the feature issue drop-down menu).
