Applied Optics Feature Announcement

Display Technology

Submission Opens: 1 February 2014

Submission Deadline: 1 March 2014

This special issue of Applied Optics aims to provide participants of the Optics and Photonics of Taiwan International Conference (OPTIC 2013) with the opportunity to publish their work as a peer reviewed paper in a feature issue on display technology. This feature issue is particularly focused on topics covered under subconference 7 (Display Technology), but also includes topics pertaining to display technology spanning the other subconferences. See http://optic2013.dop.ncu.edu.tw for more details on OPTIC 2013. While meeting participants are particularly encouraged to submit their work, the feature issue is open to all other researchers in the related area.

All papers need to present original, previously unpublished work, and will be subject to the normal standards and peer-review process of the journals. To be eligible for publication, the paper needs to add substantial and/or significant new information to the original conference summary.

Papers are solicited but not limited to the following areas:

  • Electronic papers and flexible displays
  • Reflective, transflective, transmissive, emissive and bistable displays
  • 3d displays
  • Optical films and display components
  • Alignment films and methods
  • New mesomorphic materials and effects
  • Organic light emitting diode and other emissive displays
  • Lc applications in photonics and telecom
  • Spatial light modulators
  • Gratings and holography
  • Terahertz imaging and sensing applications
  • Nonlinear optics
  • Lasers and surface plasmons
  • Lens, mirrors, photonic crystals and waveguides
  • Imaging, tweezing, and manipulating nanoparticles
  • Optics and electro-optics of nanoparticles doped lc
  • Photovoltaics and energy storages
  • Sensors and actuators
  • Polymer and lc composites
  • Liquid crystal ordering and bio-active functional materials
  • Biological materials, imaging and technology
  • Self-assembled colloids, nanoparticles and nanorods
  • Nanostructured systems and metamaterials
  • Materials and manufacturing for displays
  • Thin film transistor backplanes for displays
  • Backlight modules
  • Emissive displays
  • Projection displays
  • Microdisplays
  • Touch and interactive display applications
  • Environmentally friendly (green) displays
  • Color vision / perception / human factors

Manuscripts must be prepared according to the usual standards for submission to Applied Optics; see the Information for Contributors in any printed issue or the OSA Style Guide. Manuscripts must also be uploaded through OSA's electronic submission system. All manuscripts must be submitted to the Information Processing Division. Please specify that the manuscript is for the Display Technology feature (choose from the feature issue drop-down menu).
