Improvement of Brown Recorders Equipped with Ball Point Pens

Abstract

The Brown Recorder which has been factory equipped with a ball point pen functions very poorly as the pen skips and at times does not write at all. The holder that contained the pen was weighted with several heavy 1/4 in. iron bolts, as shown in Figure 1, with the result that the pen performs very satisfactorily. This device has been successfully employed on our recorder for several months.
