Optical Spectroscopy for the Characterization of an Alloy Steel Converting Process

Abstract
The light emitted by the off-gases of a CLU converter for alloy steel production has been spectroscopically investigated. The observations were made on-line with the use of an optical multichannel detection technique. In addition to the continuous heat radiation, emission from a large number of atoms and molecules was observed.
