Abstract

Data obtained in the routine use of a multi-channel x-ray spectrometer are presented to demonstrate precision on stainless steel, nickel and cobalt base alloys as solids, liquids and briquetted powders. Co-efficients of variation of 0.5% and less for the major constituents in high temperature alloys are readily attainable. The combination of liquid and powder techniques is particularly significant in that it provides an independent method for standardizing complex alloys by use of synthetic standards.
