Abstract

Many spectrochemical laboratories still use supplies designed without provision for automatic arc ignition, despite the commercial availability of modern d.c. power supplies for arc excitation. Brockman and Hockhgesang (1) published two basic ignitor circuits which use a two winding r-f transformer to couple a triggering spark into the d.c. circuit. Sinclair (2) used a simpler circuit with a single winding autotransformer.
