Abstract
In the course of a synthetic program a number of organic azides were prepared and their infrared spectra were obtained. It was noticed that in most of the azide spectra, which were studied, two weak, but characteristic bands were present in addition to the strong absorption bands of the azide group, which normally appear at about 2130 and 1250 cm−1. These weak bands appear at about 3380 and 2470 cm−1. Earlier spectral studies on azides (<i>1-9</i>) have not indicated an assignment for these bands.
