Restoration of Transmission to Silver Chloride Plates

Abstract

Silver chloride plates used in infrared spectroscopy often become tarnished and darkened when exposed to light, air, and sulfur compounds. Moreover, with continued use scratches are formed, which reduce the transmission, particularly at the shorter wavelengths.
