Abstract
A vacuum slide valve is presented in which inlet and outlet tubes are brought in and out of register. The sliding members are housed in a vacuum chamber to minimize leakage of air into the mass spectrometer. To provide suitable lubrication of the sliding members in the ambient hot vacuum, a gold film is employed.
